The Good Very good image quality; stylish; folding almost flat for viewing and storage at the top of the table.
The Bad Limited regulation; shaky foundation; dear.
The Bottom Line The LG Electronics Flatron L1520B offers high style and image quality, but it’s a 15-inch LCD.

According to the LG Electronics website, the Flatron L1520B won the 2003 International Forum product design award. We agree that the display does have some nice design touches, but the L1520B sometimes sacrifices form function – a tough compromise on a 15-inch LCD that costs almost $ 400. Appendix A: Screaming, chrome, annular base. That’s enough, but it’s also rather shaky. Home or office users who value style and quality for money may like the L1520B, but for a similar price IBM ThinkVision L150p is more regulated; Samsung SyncMaster 151S costs less expensive.
The L1520B does not have much flexibility. The base does not rotate and the panel does not adjust in height or rotate. It tilts back and forth a little more than 90 degrees; LG indicates that this feature allows you to browse the desktop and give it a thinner storage profile.
The six clearly marked buttons that control the on-screen menus are restrained restrained by half an inch of matt silver plastic that runs through the bottom of the panel. To the right is a tear-shaped projection that houses a soothing blue-lit power button. It took several attempts to navigate the OSD, but we never had to consult the manual.
The L1520B is Mac and PC compatible. It connects via an included analog signal cable. The signal and power inputs are concealed behind a slightly flimsy piece of plastic that snaps off the back panel. A cable-feed loop is handy, but it’s almost too small to fit both cables. The display can be mounted to a &siteid=7&edid=&lop=txt&destcat=ex&destUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Elgeus%2Ecom%2FProduct%2FMonitor%2FVesa%5Fmounts%2Easp” target=”_blank”>VESA-compliant wall mount or swing arm.
The impressive image quality of the L1520B partially offsets its design and price. In CNET lab tests, the text looked sharp and clear, the colors accurate and bright, and the even shades of gray progressed steadily from light to dark. Light View L1520B captivates us. Theoretically, seven Light View settings optimize images for certain viewing conditions, such as Text Day, Night Movie, or Day Photography; but each setting simply gave the image a different shade of twilight blue.
The L1520B comes with a three-year parts and labor warranty and backlight. Free technical support is available Monday to Friday, 7am to 8pm and Saturday 8am to 5pm. CT. The LG Electronics website also provides the basics, including email support, frequently asked questions, tutorials, and device drivers.
