The LG Flatron E2350V is essentially LG’s version of the SyncMaster XL2370: a slim, 23-inch monitor with LED backlighting and minimal aesthetic design. The E2350V is elegant, though not as stylish or unique as the XL2370 or its upgraded version, the Samsung PX2370, both of which stand out thanks to their clear necks. The E2350V has great gaming performance, along with the XL2370 and PX2370; however, the PX2370 has a slight advantage in films because of its deeper color scheme. With its black level control function, the E2350V has a lower black level than any Samsung monitor, but unfortunately it also has a dimmer screen than two.

The trump card E2350V is its lower price, which is $ 280. That’s $ 20 less than the XL2370 and $ 30 less than the PX2370. The E2350V also has unique features such as an external light sensor and a headphone jack. If you’re looking for an LED monitor, go with the PX2370 with its great performance. If the price is a concern, you can’t go wrong with the E2350V. It has the performance, features and appearance to make it worth its price.

Design and features
The 23-inch LG Flatron E2350V looks like it was modeled after the Samsung SyncMaster XL2370. Both monitors have similarly thin profiles, with practically the same physical size; however, due to its clear neck and edges, the XL2370 has an aesthetic glow that the E2350V cannot match. The depth of the Flatron E2350V panel is 0.65 inches, which is slightly more than the much thinner 0.6-inch depth of the XL2370. The Flatron E2350V has a 0.9-inch size that is shorter than the 1.1-inch XL2370. The full width of the Flatron E2350V is 22 inches, which is about the same as most 23-inch monitors. The Flatron E2350V screen has a matte finish and its glossy, black neck is similarly curved as the XL2370. Stand for oval 9.9 inches wide by 8.4 inches deep. Although the display fluctuates significantly when knocked on the sides, we do not consider it to be a danger of tipping over, given the well-designed distribution of its light weight of 7.38 pounds. The bottom panel is 2.8 inches from the desktop, about the same as the XL2370.

As with the XL2370, the screen height is not adjustable, and there are no screen rotation or rotation options for portrait mode. The ability to tilt the screen back 10 or 90 degrees is its only ergonomic function. The Flatron E2350V connectivity options include DVI-D, HDMI and VGA and a headphone jack. All connections are located on the back at the bottom of the middle of the panel and rotated back, not down, like on most monitors, making them easy to access.

The Flatron E2350V includes an On-Screen Display (OSD) array at the bottom right of the panel with a power button to the right of the array. The power button is located above the cool gray-white LED strip, and each OSD button is indicated by a small LED dot of the same color. Touching any point will display a menu screen, with each point perfectly aligned to the on-screen version of the OSD. The array consists of six different buttons: Menu, Smart +, F Engine, Auto, Input and Exit. With each new menu screen, the buttons change their function, instead performing the functions of the up, down, or previous menu, making navigating the menu a simple task.

Pressing the Menu button allows you to focus on the elements of brightness, contrast and sharpness. LG also includes a black level control that includes two settings: low and bright – which gives the E2350V a lower black level than most monitors. The OSD also includes color temperature controls – including individual RGB controls – gamma control, volume control for the headphone jack, and an Auto Bright exterior function that adjusts the brightness of the display based on the amount of ambient light in the room . The set includes standard, motion pictures, games and sports. Each preset previews its settings by splitting the screen in half: on the left is what it is currently installed on, and on the right is what it might look like with the previous program.

LG Flatron E2350V 16: 9 aspect ratio supports Full HD full resolution of 1,920×1,080 pixels. This continues the trend of more monitor vendors moving up to 16: 9 from 16:10 as high definition content – including 1080p movies – can fit on a screen of 1 920×1,080 pixels in full screen without stretching the image.

Performance
We tested the LG Flatron E2350V with its DVI connection. The display features a composite score of 94 for CNET lab-based display tests just below the XL2370’s 96 and PX2370’s 97. Thanks to the black-level control function, the LG Flatron E2350V showed a low black level in our gray scale; even below the PX2370. However, the E2350V and PX2370 let in almost the same amount of light through the corresponding screens in our dark screen test. The PX2370 seemed to have a larger color gamut, as evidenced by our color scale test, where the LG Flatron E2350V did not distinguish colors similar to the PX2370. Overall, the two monitors worked similarly to DisplayMate, and the PX2370 received a slight edge, especially in color tests.

The LG Flatron E2350V reached brightness at 197 cand. Per square meter (cd / m2), much lower than the 344 cd / m2 in the XL2370 and still lower than the 246 cd / m2 in the PX2370. However, due to its low black level, the Flatron E2350V had a much higher contrast ratio tested at 1355: 1 compared to the 1.008: 1 and 948: 1 XL2370 and PX2370 respectively.

We used the LG Flatron E2350V pre-installed movie to check “Kill Bill: Volume 1” on DVD and several 1080p movie files from Microsoft’s WMV HD Showcase. Both in the Kill Bill movies and at 1080p, we found that the more accurate and vibrant color of the PX2370 exceeds the color quality of the LG Flatron E2350V. On the side of the comparison, the red on the LG Flatron E2350V looked closer to the orange compared to the deeper red we saw on the PX2370 in one scene.

We looked at World of Warcraft and Unreal Tournament 3 and did not see any sign of lagging inputs or any shootings or ghosts during high-speed traffic. We found that the LG Flatron E2350V, PX2370, and XL2370 displayed games almost exactly the same way, with bright colors and clear solid images as we looked at the screen directly on it. With its Magic Angle feature, the PX2370 has the advantage of viewing angles.

The optimum viewing angle for the monitor is usually directly in front, about a quarter of the screen down from the top. From this angle, you view the colors and gamut by destination. Most monitors are not considered in any other angle. The image quality at sub-optimal angle depends on the type of panel. Most monitors use TN panels that are too bright or too dark on parts of the screen when viewed from sub-optimal angles. The LG Flatron E2350V uses a TN panel, and when viewed from the side or bottom, we perceive the screen to be approximately 6 inches from the center.

In our tests for power consumption, the LG Flatron E2350V had an on / default power of 26.3 watts; only slightly more than the 25.01 and 5W PX2370 than the 30.09W XL2370. With a calibrated center brightness of 200 cd / m2, the E2350V is about 24.2 watts; The PX2370 is 20 watts and the XL2370 is 21 watts. Standby power is where these competitions win and the standby power of the E2350V was quite high at 1.07W, compared to the even larger 1.42W of the XL2370 and the very low 0.27W of the PX2370. Based on our formula, the LG Flatron E2350V will cost $ 8.57 a year, compared to the PX2370 $ 7.65 and the XL2370 $ 9.96 a year.

LG supports the Flatron E2350V with a three-year parts warranty, which also covers one-year backlight.
